Hurricane Sandy

We survived our first hurricane living here by the beach!  We actually didn't get much here in Virginia, as the storm ended up making landfall further north.  We were able to get out during low tides and if we had to, probably could have during high tides.

Dustin, Brent and Blake went down to the river and the boat dock that is in our neighborhood...

This is at high tide, so obviously they didn't go in this time.

At low tide, the water was at the lowest level of the dock.  A few boards were missing, but not too much damage.

Our backyard.  This was about as bad as it got, so we were happy!

Poor Zoe just wanted to go outside!

This truck was going a little too fast down our road.

We may have dropped the kids off at my parents house and gone down to the beach with Brent to check out the ocean.  The waves weren't as big as what we were expecting, but it was really choppy.  It was still raining and really cold!

Nana and Grandpa Visit

We always love when Nana and Grandpa DeLaughter come for a visit!  It was especially fun this time because we got to spend more time with them and they got to see all of the great-grandkids (from this side of the family) together.

We did steal them away for a dinner over at our house, just the 6 of us!

Rachel was reading a book to Nana

Grandpa was such a trooper, playing Strawberry Shortcake memory!

Playing in the ice!

Feeding the turtles... one of her favorite things to do now!

Gavin wasn't so sure about the leaves (loves the sand- hates the leaves, I don't get it!)

What a great visit!  We can't wait for them to come down again!

3 Years Old!

I can't believe Rachel is three!
She is such an amazing little girl that we are blessed to have in our lives.
She...
-LOVES school and is learning so much
-LOVES going to church
-is great at memorizing her Bible verses and recites them for us all the time in the car
-loves to sing (The B-I-B-L-E, Jesus Loves me, Old MacDonald, and "Who Made the Colors of the Rainbow" are some of her favorites)
-loves wearing her tutu and dancing
-for some reason, really likes to have her picture taken
-sits on Zoe and rides her like a pony
-would rather sit on a float in the pool than swim
-gets excited over the littlest things, which makes her eyes light up!
-overall just enjoys life

How much cuter can she get!?

Rachel's Birthday Party

I CANNOT believe that Rachel just celebrated her third birthday!  How did this happen?  She is such a sweet girl who loves life.  (I'll go into more about her personality on her portrait post, but for now... Party time!)
We had her birthday party the Saturday after her birthday, but we still wanted to celebrate her on her actual birthday of course.  So we went to Chick-fil-A!  It was nice because the kids got to play and there was no cooking and clean-up involved!  (A huge plus for this working momma!)

What a happy Birthday Girl!

I just love this picture.  Gavin loves his Uncle Brent.

Alli loves Gavin!

What an awesome balloon!

Rachel got her birthday crown at school and wore it ALL DAY LONG.  She wanted to take it to dinner too... I couldn't tell her no!  (She may still have it at home and wear it around the house once in a while!)

So excited!

A Strawberry Shortcake remote control car!

And of course ice cream for dessert...

she may have eaten EVERY BITE

So happy that Nana and Great-Grandpa DeLaughter could be here to help celebrate

Grandma saved some flowers for Rachel to roll out to put on her cake

concentrating so hard!

A Strawberry Shortcake birthday!
Okay, I may have gone a little crazy with the pink and green (thanks to Pinterest!), but I think it turned out so cute!  I especially love the strawberry handprints on the windows made by Rachel, with the help of Blake and Alli.  It turned out to be a perfect day, so we were able to let all the kids play outside before we ate, and we were able to eat outside too!

It was a perfect day to play on the swingset outside!

All the "little" girls (Rachel, Eva, Megan, and Alli)

the bigger kids (Samara, Blake, Anna, Erin)

She wanted to play with everything as she opened it!

Blowing out her THREE candles!

Happy Birthday, sweet Rachel!
