Are we done yet?

Here are some of the latest photos.  It doesn't look that much different, but the plumbers have spent most of the last 2 workdays in the walls and/or ceilings.  They should be done tomorrow... then it's all up to us!

Our tub is in!  It's anchored in and everything.  Obviously we still have tons to do by way of drywall and everything else bathroom related, but this is a big step.

Yea for a pantry!  Since we still have to redo the floors, we haven't hung the doors yet.  And since we don't want our food to taste like dust (any more than it already does), the pantry is only holding supplies for now!

The upstairs hallway is getting there too.  We just have to prime and paint where the doorway was.  It still seems a little strange to see.  The poor dog wanders around the maze and ends up at the tub and can't figure out why she can't just walk out the door like she used to.

One (almost) down...

Well we have finally started making visual progress again.  For a while there it was 'mud, wait, sand, repeat!'  We have pretty much finished the study.  There is a little bit of crown molding to put up, the doors for the closet have to be hung (hardware is in place, just have to be put up), and we are going to refinish the floors after everything else is done.  The pantry has also been painted, but it doesn't look any different.

We also have a plumber (yea!) that will be coming tomorrow!  Hopefully he can run the water up to the mud room for the washer so we can finish putting up the drywall this weekend.

The above picture is the study!  I can't wait to get all the stuff out of the middle of the room and in it's place!

It's a little hard to see, but the space on the left is the closet.

Dusty was able to get the drywall up in the bedroom.  Luckily one of his former students lives up the road and was able to help him bring it upstairs so I didn't have to carry that stuff!

Zoe the helper puppy!

Some of you have asked how Zoe has handled all of the noise and craziness of the renovation...  She usually lays at the doorway of whatever room we are working in.  She is also a huge help if we run out of hands and have to take the tape measurer somewhere!

(True story by the way... Dusty was bringing a door downstairs, and was wearing gym shorts without pockets.  Luckily Zoe is always at his feet and was able to lend a collar!)

Coming along

We have made a lot of progress in the past few days.  Our contractor has finished with what we need him to do for now.  (He will come back to help with a few things after the plumber is done)  We are now putting up drywall and molding in the study/pantry/mud room- they're all separate now!

This is the only wall that we have up in the mud room so far.  We have to wait on the plumber to do the other walls.

My pantry!  It's hard to see from the picture but it's about 2 feet deep and about 30 inches wide!

This is standing in the study.  The closet is a good size.  We still need to put the doors to the closet and to the room itself.

My Kitchen!

We are preparing for the plumber to come in and the only way to get to the new bathroom floor is through the kitchen ceiling.  I was a little scared at first when they told me the cabinets had to come down, but they should be back up soon.

The guys also started framing in the new study and laundry room.  Everything is coming along great!

Hopefully the plumber will be able to get everything through this hole and we won't have to make it any bigger.

This is the family room after the paneling has been taken down.

The space on the left is the closet.  Where the ladder is will be my new pantry!  In the back is where the mud room will be.

More Home Pictures

So the contractor has been here for three days. Most of the electrical work is done upstairs and the walls are framed. We also tore out the ceiling and took the cabinets off one of the walls in the kitchen to get ready for the plumber. The contractor said we may be done with the construction part of things by the end of next week.
We are standing in our bedroom  looking at a wall that had to be framed in around a gas vent.  The next section beyond that will be our closet, then the bathroom after that.

This is standing where the tub will be.  The framed wall to the right is our walk-in closet (yea!)

This is standing by what will be the doorway looking to where the tub will be.  (The doorway that is there now will be filled in.)  Our sink will be on the wall to the right.

Vacation

We took a break from house work and were able to take a mini vacation in Williamsburg then visit the Nieter's for the weekend.  We were so excited to get the chance to meet up with some family at Busch Gardens for a day while in Williamsburg.

Blake and Uncle Dusty watching TV.

Uncle Rod, Gregory, Morgan, Dusty and I at
Busch Gardens.  (Aunt Kim is taking the picture!)

We were called up on stage during lunch at the Festhous to do the "Chicken Dance"

We tried to watch the fireworks in Norfolk... too bad they were rained out.  Oh well, we still had a great time just hanging out!
